Quick Navigation 80/20 TSLOTS / Other Aluminum Framing Systems Top 40 Series T-Slot Insert Linear Bearing Pad. Applications vary greatly so this may not resolve your particular challenge. Please take this for what it is, a suggestion from experienced users on how to address binding with the 80/20 Linear Bearings. ![]() The Value Add assemblers who've been doing this for a long time swear by it - just be sure you're using a soft face mallet that won't damage the anodized surface. Apparently striking the bearing correctly aligns the keys of the bearing pads with the t-slot openings of your specific extrusion (T-slots in your extrusion have a tolerance range so the width can vary, albeit very slightly). They suggested that (after aligning the bearing to the extrusion) you should rap the bearing sharply from all angles with a non-marring soft face mallet.and not softly. When I discussed this with our quoting folks (design), and the guys in Value Add (that's the department that builds to-order), they had a curious solution: "beat the heck out of it!". If tolerances are not excessive the general response is they'll work okay (especially for wood routing) but there is a common issue in a tendency to bind. I get a ton of questions regarding the applicability of 80/20 Linear Bearings for CNC. Employment Opportunity / RFQ (Request for Quote).I work at 80/20 Surplus, the eBay surplus store for 80/20 Inc ( ).After spraying with silicon spray mine slides and zips around OK. Only carries about 10 pounds (the plasma torch). Currently using these linear bearings on my y axis. Quick Navigation DIY CNC Router Table Machines Top Maybe Ill just use 80/20 for the frame and find another rail bearing system to attach. It also adds a grip to aid with adjustments and provides secure lockdown cap - Part Number: 6850. ![]() Sorry they're "buried" in my construction so I can't confirm. The L handle linear bearing brake kit adds an adjustable stop to any brake-ready bearing by securing it into a semi-permanent position. ![]() I'm pretty sure that I used 1/4 20 socket head cap screws to secure the steel plate to the 8020 extrusion. (Two of the holes were a little out of place so I used round head 10/32 screws instead of the fancy button head cap screws in these two spots.) It's best to use the extrusion itself as a guide to where you make your tapped holes in the steel plate. A word of caution, the hole spacing of the SB20 extrusion shown in the Glacern drawing is an approximation. I used 10/32 button head cap screws to secure the SB20 aluminum extrusion to the steel plate. It occured to me that you can cut a larger relief (in a small area of the SB20 aluminum extrusion) to accomodate any screw size you want. You might notice that the screws I used to hold the steel to the 8020 extrusion were not exactly evenly spaced. The opening is there to provide relief for the screw that holds the steel rail to it's base. 80/20 UNIVERSITY One of the many benefits you'll find with 80/20 profiles and parts is its versatility. It is a building system anyone can use to create custom solutions. That said, the openings are about 1/2" wide and 1/4" deep. 80/20 provides T-slot aluminum profiles, or bars, that have channels used to connect other bars and parts for instance, panels, linear bearings or casters. The bearing includes pads, screws and shims the pads are made of self-lubricating UHMW. The bearing houses profiles with a minimum of. It contains special threaded inserts in the pads which provide a heavy-duty bearing capable of withstanding repetitive cycles with sudden acceleration and deceleration. It houses profiles with a minimum of three open T-slots, has a double flange and is a shorter option. The 4-slot mount double flange long high-cycle linear bearing with brake holes is typically used in linear motion applications. I don't have complete access to the openings and they're not rectangular. The 3-slot mount double flange short standard linear bearing without brake holes is typically used in linear motion applications.
